First look - 'Fit and lit'
‘Fit and lit’ – a unique facility housing a library and leisure centre under one roof has opened in the London borough of Hillingdon.
The £20m Botwell Green sports and leisure centre and library was officially opened earlier this month by Cllr Ray Puddifoot, leader of the council. He was assisted by Hillingdon youth MP Sheyi Enyoisi (pictured) – who tried out all the facilities at once.
The centre is a first for the borough, and includes adult education classrooms.
Cllr Puddifoot said: “This brand new facility is truly a community hub, incorporating state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully fitted gymnastics hall and swimming pool, and large, modern library. Hillingdon is bucking the national trend to invest in facilities that will enable our residents to achieve their aspirations, both sporting and academic.”
