Conference recycling efforts win praise

Landfill

Delegates at the Local Government Group annual conference in Bournemouth earlier this month helped to divert 12 cubic metres of waste from landfill by recycling it.

Recycling bins were provided in the venue for plastic, paper and cans. Recycling and resource management company SITA UK said 1,020kgs of waste were recycled during the three-day conference, and delegates’ efforts had made a carbon saving equivalent to 16 trees.
