Senior staff at Liverpool city council have volunteered for a pay cut which will save £500,000 a year.

The 24 assistant executive directors and heads of service have given up performance-related bonuses worth 10% of their salary. The seven-strong executive management team has already foregone its 14% performance-related pay, worth an additional £150,000. Council leader Cllr Joe Anderson said: “I am really pleased that the entire leadership team is accepting that the difficult financial position we are in is something that it can help with.”
