Healey unveils housing reforms - Have your say
Housing minister John Healey has unveiled plans to dismantle the current council housing finance system and replace it with a more devolved self-financing system that puts councils in control.

The proposals would allow councils to finance their own business from their own rents and revenues, in exchange for a one-off allocation of housing debt. The consultation on reforming the housing revenue account subsidy system follows last month’s pledge by the prime minister of an extra £1.5bn for social housing.
