Who's in charge? Putting power in local hands

"It's time for a radical overhaul of the quango state and wasted public money."

People have the right to know what their tax is being spent on. They can vote out councillors and MPs in elections in they are unhappy with them or think they are not spending money wisely. But it is much more difficult to know what the quangos do with £43.2 billion of public money every year.

This leaflet is part of the LGA's "Who's in charge?" campaign which is calling for more accountability and greater value for money within the public sector.
