Budget 2009 - LGA on the day briefing
On 22 April Alistair Darling delivered his annual Budget statement. The LGA has lobbied government hard to put councils at the heart of Budget proposals to tackle the recession. A number of measures, for example those designed to tackle youth unemployment, show our arguments have been listened to. The LGA will be going through the detail of the proposals and will work to ensure that councils have genuine control and influence in each case.
Our On The Day Briefing highlights the key provisions that will impact on local government and sets out the LGA's initial response.
