SCA shortlist – Round one
The LGA, acting in the role of the Selector under the Sustainable Communities Act, submitted the shortlist as required by the Act to the Secretary of State in December 2009.
The shortlist is available below to download. The proposals contained in the shortlist reflect local issues and concerns and have been drawn up in dialogue with communities and partners. Most of the proposals group themselves into clusters reflecting shared concerns by councils, and a shared analysis of what need to happen, on housing, transport, finance, action to support local high streets, working to tackle rising unemployment and working together to tackle climate change amongst many others. The shortlist is accordingly presented in these themes; which we hope will be useful both for government in considering the proposals and to councils so they can develop their links with authorities with shared views.
The role of Selector was undertaken by a cross party panel of elected members, the Selector Panel. The Panel shortlisted proposals in line with a shortlisting framework developed in partnership with the local government sector.
