Are there votes to be had in climate change?

As part of the Small Change, Big Difference campaign, the LGA commissioned detailed opinion polling of different groups’ attitude towards climate change and what the role of local government should be in tackling the problem.

This leaflet summarises those findings. It indicates clear support across the country for action to be taken at a local level to tackle climate change and demonstrates that candidates for local and general elections ignore policies to combat climate change at their peril.

This LGA poll can be equally effective when used as a snapshot of opinion to inform future campaigns and polices or when used to evaluate the effect of local campaigns already undertaken to change your resident's attitudes and behaviour in regards to climate change. The template has been successfully tested by the LGA on various groups including the general public and has proved invaluable in gauging differing opinions on climate change. In addition, it's use by your authority would also allow comparison between your local area and the national picture.
