Local Innovation Awards announced

The first winners of the new scheme were praised for their work at a reception hosted by kind permission of Rt. Hon. Alistair Darling, Chancellor of the Exchequer, last night at No 11 Downing Street.
The Scheme is run in partnership by the Government, the LGA Group and the independent Local Innovation Awards Scheme Advisory Panel. The full list of winners and pen portraits can be found at: http://www.beacons.idea.gov.uk/localinnovationawards
Tameside, Sunderland, Trafford and Northumberland Council, along with their partners, won five main awards. Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, Northumberland Council and Halton Borough Council also received innovation development awards in the ‘Bright Ideas’ category.
