Firstlook - Book worms

Children in costume

Book worms – Six-year-old Jack Thomas and seven-year-old Chloe Williams were among the school children who dressed up as characters from their favourite story books to mark world books day at the newly refurbished Burry Port library in Carmarthenshire.

Harry Potter, Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood were just some of the much-loved characters that made an appearance as the library was officially re-opened following a £200,000 revamp. The new library facilities have a nautical theme to reflect the town’s maritime heritage.

The event was part of Carmarthenshire libraries’ campaign to encourage new members to join and get free access to a wealth of books, DVDs, CDs, cassettes and the internet.

Cllr Gwynne Wooldridge, executive board member for education and children’s services at Carmarthenshire county council, said: “I hope people take advantage of this excellent facility they now have on their doorstep and take the opportunity to join the library.”
