Now in its 9th successful year, this is the definitive event for senior figures in local government, central government and partner agencies to come together to debate the major issues facing those working in culture, tourism and sport.

This conference will explore the opportunities and threats the new political and economic landscape will pose to culture, tourism and sport services.  What will be the impact of the recession on funding and services?  Are we ready to make the case to a new government about how our sector helps create healthy and sustainable communities?

Against this challenging background, local authorities will still want to deliver excellent services, grow participation and strengthen partnership working.  But the culture, tourism and sport sector is stronger than it's ever been before.  Now more than ever the sector must continue to be innovative, achieve better value for money and evidence how culture, tourism and sport brings wider benefits.

Through the conference your views will shape the LGA's 'Culture, Tourism and Sport Manifesto' which will set out how our sector can help to meet the biggest challenges we face, and what we think a new government's priorities for our sector should be.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MP, Minister for Culture and Tourism
  • Ed Vaizey MP, Shadow Minister for Culture and the Creative Industries
  • Baroness Maddock, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson
  • Bonnie Greer, writer and playwright
  • Jude Kelly, Artistic Director, Southbank Centre
  • Chris Holmes, Director of Paralympic Integration, LOCOG
  • Alan Davey, Chief Executive, Arts Council England
