Building on the success of last year?s conference, the 13th annual LGA fire conference will take stock of the pressures and opportunities facing the service in a time of economic downturn and a changing political landscape. The conference will consider how the Fire and Rescue Service can continually improve services while increasing efficiency and becoming more sustainable and representative of the community they serve.

 This must attend two-day event will provide a unique opportunity for all attendees to:

• hear from the government and the main opposition party on their vision for the fire and rescue service;
• learn how the sector is leading the approach to improvement;
• examine the risks of economic recession;
• discuss the future of certain functions currently carried out by government;
• review progress on FiReControl;
• hear about how the leading players in Fire and Rescue see the future;
• attend workshops giving an in-depth look at topical issues including: new challenges in fire resilience, leadership for members of Fire and Rescue Authorities, responding to climate change, new and evolving risks and new recruitment mechanisms.
