Set against a back drop of the Youth Crime Action Plan, falling youth crime and custody levels, historic reforms to the legal framework and commissioning arrangements for 16 - 18 education and unprecedented pressure on public spending, change is a major factor for everyone involved in trying to help young people in contact with the youth justice system to make better lives for themselves.

This event will explore two crucial youth crime issues, resettlement and accountability, important questions about which were raised by the Youth Crime Action Plan, published in 2008. Both resettlement and accountability present local agencies with big challenges and opportunities, none more so than councils. This conference will provide delegates with a vital opportunity to engage in the public debate around strengthening local accountability, as well as to hear about policy development and current good practice in relation to resettlement.
