improving outcomes for communities through partnership working - the role of fire and rescue
sponsored by Lion Apparel; media sponsor Fire Times
Fire and Rescue Authorities (FRAs) are facing new challenges posed by the introduction of Local Area Agreements and the Comprehensive Area Assessment. The emphasis is increasingly on working in partnership to improve local outcomes, requiring a transformation in ways of working at local level. For FRAs this also includes the challenge of creating a more diverse and representative workforce to better equip the service to meet the varying needs of communities and deliver improved outcomes.
The LGA's twelfth annual fire conference is a must attend two-day event which will explore a range of strategic issues. It will provide a crucial opportunity for delegates to find out about how they can seize the opportunities presented by the new partnership landscape. Sessions will include:
- exploration of the main strategic issues and challenges facing fire and rescue;
- the role of Chief Fire and Rescue Advisor's Unit;
- understanding what Comprehensive Area Assessment and Local Area Agreements mean for FRAs;
- the elected member contribution to driving improvement in performance;
- the wider role of fire and rescue in creating safer communities and improving the quality of people's lives;
- the future of operational leadership in the fire and rescue service.
The conference provides an excellent opportunity for elected members and officers from across fire and rescue authorities and wider local government, as well as partner organisations to come together to discuss current challenges and opportunities and how to ensure their work has the most positive impact on the people they serve. The Parliamentary Under Sectretary of State for Community Cohesion and Fire and Rescue Services, Sadiq Khan MP, is attending to set out his views of the challenges ahead.
A panel discussion will allow delegates to engage with a range of key players from the fire and rescue sector and consider a range of perspectives on the most current issues. As well an exciting programme of plenary sessions, the conference will feature a number of breakout sessions which will be repeated so that delegates can participate in discussion on more than one topic. All of these sessions will include ample time for delegates to question and engage with speakers.
The conference will take place at the luxury 4 star Bristol Marriot City Centre Hotel which has been selected for its top-class conference facilities and accommodation. The hotel is easily accessible by car and is conveniently located close to Bristol Temple Meads Mainline Train Station, shops, amenities and parking facilities.
