Capacity building programme - update 2005

An update on the capacity building programme - a three-year initiative, established in April 2003, to support improvement in local government. The joint LGA/ODPM programme has developed significantly since it was launched and already over 250 English local authorities have benefited from capacity building support. Access to the programme was extended to fire and rescue authorities in 2004. In total some £100 million has been committed by the LGA/ODPM joint fund to support capacity building in local authorities.
