Open to employees in the LGA’s member councils, contestants will undertake a series of challenges in a range of council services.
Over August and September 2010, councils in England and Wales are being invited to submit proposals to host a challenge in their local area which covers one of the following areas:
- Front line service delivery
- Finance
- Media/communication

At the same time the search is on to find ten contestants who will take part in the competition. The ten contestants can expect to take part in five real life challenges between January and May 2011.

Contestants will be observed every step of the way by a panel of leading local government figures and partner organisations.
The winner of the LG Challenge, who will be announced at the LG Group Annual Conference in Birmingham in July 2011, can look forward to a career enhancing scholarship worth up to £10,000 from the Bruce Lockhart Leadership Programme.
