At different times throughout the year the LGA runs campaigns on specific issues that are important to our member councils. Our current campaigns are “Who’s in charge?” and “the Reputation campaign”.

The Local Government Group has also signed up to take part in the “10:10 Campaign”, alongside which we will be holding our Climate Change month in October. Throughout the month we will be highlighting and promoting how councils across the country are fighting climate change.

If you would like to suggest a topic for a campaign for us to run or have any other comments please contact Emily Robinson, Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns on 0207 664 3097 or email emily.robinson@lga.gov.uk

Who's in Charge - the accountability campaign - The LGA’s Who’s in Charge? campaign is calling for more accountability and greater value for money within the public sector.  We believe this will create a stronger, locally based democracy that will make a central and distinctive contribution to rebuilding confidence in our political institutions.

Reputation campaign - the LGA's Reputation campaign has been running for five years to help councils improve their reputation. With LGcommunications we are currently reviewing the success of the campaign and are developing a new toolkit for councils.

10:10 Campaign – the LG Group has signed up to the 10:10 Campaign and we are working to reduce our carbon emissions by 10% over the coming year. We have also dedicated October as our Climate Change month and throughout the month will be highlighting and promoting the commitment and innovation councils demonstrate in:

  • improving the energy efficiency of their residents’ homes
  • rolling out new sources of green energy
  • tackling climate change.
