Personal statement
Having been a councillor for most of the time since 1975 for inner city wards of Liverpool two related areas are of particular interest to me:
- How do we involve more people in the formal and informal structures of local activity and local governance?
- How do we devolve power from White Hall to Town Hall and from Town Hall to neighbourhoods?
I believe that in an age when all politicians talk about localism too few of us practice it. I hope I can do something about that through my own work in local government.
